USPRE Update - California Revision

Posted 03/20/08 by Donna DeYoung

Kimberly Boyer, president of USPRE, posted an announcement about what's been happening recently in the U.S. You can read the full announcement here.

Revision/inscription for Pure Spanish horses to receive their Spanish papers was held in California in February. Over 1200 requests were processed.  PRE breeders from up and down the West Coast "came out with their stock to be registered with the Spanish Studbook (LG), showing overwhelming support of the LG and its management."

It is clear that USPRE has stepped up to the task. As they state on their website, " Our utmost goal is to promote unity among PRE breeders in the United States and to facilitate their ability to work directly with their breed organization in Spain."

Jacqueline Suechting wrote an inspirational and informative article "California Inscription & Revision Stampede" that I encourage you to read. Photos are included as well.

New word to learn... I knew that Spain was working through our breeders and USPRE ... but Jacqueline explains it very well.

"Two and a half months after the Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse declined to further service the Stud Book protocol issued to them by ANCCE, ANCCE elected to service the U.S.A. without a protocol, working directly with the Breeders of the US through the Delegato."

An important outcome from ANCCE's trip to California was that many horses were reviewed that had been lost in the FAB-PRE-USA/Cria difficulties.  The visit supposedly made "serious headway" in resolving the paperwork and lost carta issues.

The next trip is planned for Texas, Florida, and Washington.
